The Stanford Drive-In has been in continuous operation since 1952, surviving a devastating tornado in 1996 that destroyed the screen — the owners rebuilt and reopened within three months. A 2015 community fundraising campaign raised enough money to transition to digital projection. Located in Lincoln County about an hour south of Lexington, the theater also operates a popular weekend flea market on its grounds from spring through fall, making it a dual-purpose community destination.
