Finger Lakes Drive-In holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating drive-in movie theater in New York State, having opened on July 15, 1947 in the Aurelius township just outside Auburn in Cayuga County. For nearly 80 years, this Finger Lakes landmark has run first-run films under the stars, seamlessly blending old-fashioned charm with modern projection and sound technology. The original drive-in speaker poles — the iconic hooks that once delivered tinny sound through a box mounted on your car window — are preserved on-site as a living museum artifact, even as digital FM audio on 101.9 FM delivers crisp stereo sound to modern car radios. Admission is $8 per person plus a mandatory $2 food voucher (redeemable at the concession stand), making the total $10 all-in. Open Friday through Sunday from April through October, the Finger Lakes Drive-In has served generations of Cayuga County families and has become a pilgrimage destination for drive-in enthusiasts from across the Northeast.
