Cumberland Drive-In Theatre

The Cumberland Drive-In Theatre has been a Cumberland Valley landmark since it opened on August 1, 1952. Located in Newville along Route 81's corridor between Carlisle and Chambersburg, the single-screen theater runs from April through September and features a clever online reservation system that lets guests pre-select their parking spot — a modern convenience rarely found at historic drive-ins. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for children ages 3–12. The theater also offers triple features at $10 adults and $5 children, as well as a VIP card that reduces adult admission to $8. Founded by Donn Mowery and still operating with community roots, the Cumberland Drive-In combines old-school charm with thoughtful modern updates that keep it competitive as a regional entertainment destination.
